Our virtual Christmas spectacular was filled with holiday spirit and charming nostaglia!

Erin Hüber opened our Christmas event with her silhouette mastery. Her beautiful artwork sprang to life in a short film titled “Home for Christmas” with stunning animation! Learn more about Erin in our diary entry interview, “A Sense of Adventure”.

Charles Dickens scholar, Larry Hicks, has performed at many of our events (including the Anaheim Halloween Parade) as characters from the Charles Dickens universe. We are always thrilled to have him as each time he appears, we learn some new and fascinating information about the famous writer. For our Christmas Fairytales virtual event he joined us as the character, Septimus Hicks, from "Sketches by Boz." Septimus told us all about the special 112-page novella that is "A Christmas Carol." He even raised a glass of the "Smoking Bishop" punch shared by Scrooge and Bob Cratchit!

An authentic 1800's style magic lantern show with original Christmas fairytales written by Amy Mitchell.

Gerald Dickens, the great-great grandson of Charles Dickens, joined us to share stories of his family history and his recent film version of the classic story, “A Christmas Carol”, where he takes the audience on a magical journey of Ebenezer Scrooge’s heartfelt transformation by acting out all 26 characters in this favorite holiday tale! Learn more about Gerald in our diary entry, “A Ghostly Little Book”.

Bob Gurr, Disney’s legendary imagineer who contributed his mastery to so many beloved attractions in the theme parks, joined us to reminisce about “Holiday Seasons in Early Disneyland” and more about his storied career at Walt Disney Studios during our show. We also had two of Bob’s “GurrMobiles” 1955 automotive license plates autographed by him and they were given to two lucky guests as part of our prize giveaways.

Artist, Kelsey Irvin, well-known around Southern California and beyond for her ingenuity in painting and mixed media collage, joined us for our "Christmas Fairytales" event. She taught us in her video tutorial how to make glowing winter fairy light strands and lanterns, adding a lovely rustic charm to any holiday display.

We were delighted to have Tania Yager of Twistedheart Puppetworks join us for our Christmas show. She shared her new animated short film titled “Searching for Krampus”, a miniature shadow puppet crankie show that combines dark Christmas lore with poetry and shadows. The tale chronicles the travels of a morose pre-teen who, at the urging of her vexed mother, goes in search of the Yuletide beast known as Krampus. Many creatures assist her on her way but the one that awaits her at the end is the most impactful of all!

Don’t miss this beautiful performance by Anthony Kalberg titled “Christmas In My Heart”, a reminiscing of Ebenezer Scrooge and the three ghostly visits that changed him. This was a wonderful way to close out our Christmas event!

The hosts for the evening had a jolly time introducing all of the entertainment, drawing names for prizes, choosing the ugly sweater contest winners and leading the silent auction…it was a memorable night!
