Once upon a time, in an enchanted forest, a fantastical music box rested on the gnarled roots of a wise old tree. Inside, a princely cat with wistful eyes slowly twirled to gentle music. One evening an odd gust of wind whisked a flutter of purple petals along a path leading to the music box. A stranger wandering the forest came upon it just as the song chimed its last notes. Suddenly the music box was empty! Standing beneath the tree was a most handsome cat, gazing warmly ahead. He turned and walked into the dusk of twilight, beckoning towards a special place that only he knew, the Museum of Make Believe.
The Museum of Make Believe is dedicated to preserving the timeless art of storytelling in a uniquely creative environment that is both ethereal and enchanting. Created by a team of artists and visionaries, it offers a truly magical twist on the way contemporary art is experienced. Prepare to be transported to a place of magic and mystery where you can experience the charm of nostalgia, the power of storytelling, and the spark of imagination. After traveling our exhibits to museums around the country, we are ready to build our own permanent home!
While here, guests won't want to miss our enchanted ice cream shop and cafe, The Dream Parlor, where they may enjoy surrealistically sweet treats. Speaking of storytelling, this parlor has its own special tale about how it came to appear in a timeworn frontier town to the amazement of the old west settlers of the region and the special little girl who wished for this magic parlor of electrified-blue. Soon you will be able to experience it for yourself!
We invite you to become a part of our whimsical world of handcrafted miniatures, puppetry, dreamlike paintings, thematic lighting, costumes, film and sound, all depicting original ghost stories and fairy tales of the mystical and mythic. The stories are timeless and somehow familiar, as if conjured from a shared memory; or an imaginary world that has to be believed to be seen.
